Volunteers are the heart and sole of Space Coast Runners. Every year SCR relies on hundreds of volunteers to put on our race events, fun runs and socials. We also rely on our volunteers for numerous projects like the award-winning newsletter, community events and cleanups. Without the support of the many Space Coast Runners volunteers, our organization would not be able to put on some of the most successful running events in Florida.

Current Events: 

• Meal Packing at The Children's Hunger Project: Pack meal on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021. Starts at 5:30PM. We need 12 folks to volunteer to make this evening pack a success. Sign up: https://thedriven.net/event.vol_reg_first/eid/39080256789
• ​Florida Marathon & Half Marathon Water Stop: Join us on Sunday, February 7th to host our 2nd annual SCR water stop at the race. We had a great time last year. Sign up here. 2 shifts are availalbe.
• Eye of the Dragon Water Stop & Course Marshals Needed: We need volunteers to help man water stops and be course marshals directing participants on the race course on Sunday, February 14th. Volunteers get a cool t-shirt and swag bag. Sign up by clicking here. 
• Youth Series Track Race #3: Volunteers are needed to assist with new Youth events. Race #2 will be held at Space Coast High School track on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Volunteer time requirement: 8:15am - 10:00am. Email Rebecca Acosta at rebecca@spacecoastrunners.org to volunteer.
• Youth Series Track Race #4: Volunteers are needed to assist with new Youth events. Race #2 will be held at Eau Gallie High School track on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Volunteer time requirement: 8:15am - 10:00am. Email Rebecca Acosta at rebecca@spacecoastrunners.org to volunteer.

Future Events: 

• Space Coast Classic 15K & 2 Mile Water Stop & Course Marshals: We'll need volunteers to help man water stops and be course marshals directing participants on the race course on Sunday, April 11th. Sign up coming soon.
• Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon Packet Pickup: Packet Pickup at Running Zone. 3 hour time slots are available. We need volunteers for Mon, Tues, Wed and Friday the week leading up to the race (November 11/22-24 and 11/26). Sign up coming soon.
• 2021 Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon SCR Tent at the Race Expo: Volunteer to help out at the Saturday, 11/27 during the race's packet pickup hours. SCR will have our tent and tables setup. You'll man the Prize Wheel, sell SCR retail apparel and talk to folks that stop by. 4 shifts to choose from. More info coming soon.
• 2021 Space Coast Marathon & Half Marathon Road Cleanup: Volunteer to help out clean up River Road (north and south sides) after the races. 2 shifts to choose from. More info coming soon.

2021/2022 SCR Board Member:

The 2021-2022 SCR Board Member elections will be held in May 2021. SCR will accept nominations for Board Members in the spring. If you are interested, please contact SCR Secretary, Elisha Gould via email at elisha@spacecoastrunners.org and provide the following information:

1. Short bio with a picture of yourself.

2. Why you would like to serve on the SCR board.

All interested candidates will be put on the electronic ballot which will be sent to all current members for voting. Results will be announced in June.

Board of Directors Expectations

· Support SCRs mission, purposes, goals, policies and programs.

· Serve actively on committees.

· Attend activities and events sponsored by SCR whenever possible.

· Prepare for and participate in monthly board meetings and committee meetings.

· Serve SCR as whole rather than any special interest group or constituency.

PHOTOGRAPHER

We're looking for an individual to shoot photos are our Runner of the Year series races. This means photographing what is happening before, during and after the race which we'll post on our various social media platforms. If you would like to give this a shot, email socialmedia@spacecoastrunners.org.  

SOCIAL MEDIA CONTRIBUTOR

We're looking for an individual to come out to the Runner of the Year series races and Facebook Live the event. This person can also conduct interviews with SCR members, race winners, etc.

Volunteer Age Requirements

For the safety of our volunteers and our participants, we do have some age guidelines in place.  Volunteers that are 16 years old and up are free to volunteer on their own.  Volunteers that are between the ages of 12-15 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.  If you have a child in the 12-15 year age group, please be sure to indicate that in your communication so that we can place you and your child in an appropriate and safe volunteer assignment at our events.
