BREVARD COUNTY, FL – For nearly 38 years, the Eye of the Dragon 10K has challenged runners from across Brevard County and beyond, and now this prestigious road race is proud to announce its selection as the 2026 RRCA Southern Region 10K Championship.
The 38th annual Eye of the Dragon 10K will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2026, offering runners the opportunity to join a time-honored Space Coast tradition. The USATF certified course (FL22006JK) features a challenging out-and-back route over the Eau Gallie Causeway and the Indian River, where competitors will find both the climb and the view absolutely breathtaking.
“In just 100 days, runners will have their chance to face the Dragon,” said Race Director, Brittany Streufert. “This championship designation recognizes the quality and tradition of this race, and we’re excited to welcome runners from across the region.”
Three Ways to Conquer the Challenge:
Eye of the Dragon 10K – The full 6.1-mile championship distance over the causeway
Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile – A shorter option for those building up to the Dragon
Slay the Beast Challenge – Complete both races on February 15 and earn three medals for your efforts
All races take place under the watchful eye of the dragon and are part of the Space Coast Runners “Runner of the Year” Series, allowing SCR members to earn points toward year-end standings. Race proceeds benefit the Space Coast Runners Christian Lake Memorial Scholarship Fund, ensuring that every step taken helps support the next generation of runners.
